Privacy Policy for Q Virtual Amp
Effective Date: April 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Herb Design Group ("Herb Design Group," "we," "our," or "us") handles information in connection with Q Virtual Amp.
1. Overview
Q Virtual Amp is designed to work primarily on your device. The application itself does not collect analytics, advertising data, or user tracking information for Herb Design Group.
However, the app does use certain third-party services for licensing and storefront functionality, and those providers may process limited information as described below.
2. Information We Do and Do Not Collect
Information the app does not collect for us
We do not use the app to collect or send us:
- advertising identifiers;
- in-app analytics or behavioral tracking data;
- pedalboard content or tone settings for cloud storage;
- microphone or audio recordings for remote storage; or
- marketing profiles based on your in-app activity.
Information stored locally on your device
Q Virtual Amp may store certain information locally on your own device, such as:
- saved pedalboard files you choose to create;
- local license cache information needed to remember a successful activation; and
- local crash log information on supported platforms if the app encounters a serious error.
This locally stored information is used to make the software function properly on your device and is not automatically uploaded to Herb Design Group.
3. Third-Party Services We Use
Polar.sh
We use Polar.sh for storefront and software licensing functions. When you purchase a license or activate licensed features, Polar.sh and its service providers may process information such as:
- your name and email address;
- payment and billing information;
- transaction records;
- your license key;
- device or machine activation labels used to tie a license to a device; and
- related fraud-prevention, tax, or compliance information.
Herb Design Group does not control how Polar.sh handles personal information once it is submitted through its platform. Please review Polar.sh's own privacy policy and terms for more information.
GitHub release checks
Q Virtual Amp may check GitHub to see whether a newer software release is available. When this happens, GitHub may receive standard technical request information such as your IP address and basic browser or network metadata associated with the request.
4. How Information Is Used
Where information is processed in connection with Q Virtual Amp, it is used for purposes such as:
- processing purchases and issuing licenses;
- validating and activating software licenses;
- helping users install, unlock, update, or troubleshoot the app;
- maintaining the security and integrity of the licensing process; and
- responding to support requests.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, any processing related to purchases, licensing, and support is generally based on one or more of the following legal bases:
- performance of a contract;
- compliance with legal obligations; and
- legitimate interests, such as preventing fraud, securing licensing, and supporting the software.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Information may be shared only as reasonably necessary with:
- Polar.sh and its service providers for payments, taxes, and licensing;
- GitHub when the app checks for available updates;
- service providers assisting with lawful business operations; or
- authorities or other parties when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
7. Data Retention
- Information saved locally by the app generally remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the software.
- Purchase and licensing records handled by Polar.sh are retained according to Polar.sh's own retention practices and legal obligations.
- Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond to requests, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or additional information about personal data processed in connection with purchases, licensing, or support.
If you have a privacy question or request, contact us at support@herbdesigngroup.com.
California notice
If you are a California resident, you may contact us to ask about the categories of personal information processed in connection with Q Virtual Amp and your available privacy rights under California law.
9. International Users
Because Q Virtual Amp is available internationally and uses third-party providers such as Polar.sh and GitHub, information related to purchases, license validation, or update checks may be processed in countries outside your place of residence.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to limit our own handling of personal data through the app and to rely on established third-party providers for licensing and payment functions. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. Children's Privacy
Q Virtual Amp is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through the application itself. If you believe personal information has been provided in error, please contact us.
